America’s Swimming Pool Co. delivers a $150,000 check to OneWorld Health in support of Clean Water Matters.
A public awareness and fundraising campaign is underway as America’s Swimming Pool Company launches its Clean Water Matters effort in partnership with OneWorld Health. The initiative supports OneWorld Health’s mission to provide a clean water source to hospitals in East Africa and Central America.
ASP franchise owners, who operate pool cleaning, repair and renovation businesses in more than 400 U.S. cities, are becoming clean water advocates and educating their customers and community about the global water crisis, the company said, as ASP aims to improve access to clean water for those living without it. The company launched an ongoing fundraising campaign to raise $500,000 for Clean Water Matters over the next five years, money that will help provide a clean water source to 10 new hospitals. America’s Swimming Pool Co. is also gearing up for a one-day giving marathon October 5.
“We feel called to do something more,” said Thomas P. Swift Jr., ASP’s president and COO. “Clean Water Matters provides us with the opportunity to create a better, cleaner future.” Both ASP and OneWorld Health believe a person’s birth country should not determine their ability to access basic healthcare, ASP noted in its announcement of the campaign, and it’s been working with OneWorld Health since 2017 to bring clean water to the healthcare setting of the developing world.
OneWorld Health builds permanent medical centers in developing countries aimed at delivery quality, low-cost healthcare and filling the gap left by governmental, temporary and other more narrowly focused efforts. It has eight centers open in Nicaragua and four in Uganda.
